Group Lotus plc, wholly-owned subsidiary of DRB-HICOM, is based in Norfolk, UK, and has three operating divisions: Lotus Cars, Lotus Engineering and Lotus Racing. ted Learning is delighted to be working with Lotus as a new client through our partnership with Croner. We will be delivering interview skills and equality and diversity training to over 100 lotus managers to ensure a consistent approach to recruitment. We have delivered a pilot to this programme to ensure it fully meets the needs of the business and is relevant to this global business.

The Brief

Lotus wanted to ensure all 100 of its key managers had been through a recruitment training session to deliver a positive experience to candidates that gave a positive impression of the business and importantly covered the key elements of employment legislation so that all managers were consistent in their approach and that the training lead to a cultural change in how interviews were conducted.

There was also a key driving point of trying to attract more female talent into design roles, where competitors seemed to have an edge over lotus.

Working with the HR team, we spent time researching and understanding current practices and challenges in recruiting staff.

The objective set by the business was all managers needed to attend the training within a two-day period; ted Learning set about devising a programme that would have 50 managers on each that was still engaging and where all learners could participate.

We delivered the sessions use ted Learning actors who demonstrated various interview scenarios with the group broken into smaller groups to focus on different elements and feedback. We also covered the Equality Act in the training so managers had a better understanding of what could and couldn’t be covered in interviews. The sessions were well received, fun and engaging with Managers commenting on the very different approach to learning in a really positive way.

WHY ted Learning?

Our training is observational and participative, using teams of actors to bring it to life. We recognise that taking part in role-play is not for everyone, so we offer observational training – this is where two of our acting team demonstrate scenes related to the course and delegates observe and comment on the behaviors. Where a business is more confident working with actors, we take this to the next level with participative training so delegates get to practice their newly learnt skills.
