STEINHOFF is an integrated retailer that manufactures, sources and retails furniture, household goods and general merchandise in Europe, Australasia and Africa. Steinhoff UK own Harvey’s, Bensons Beds and Cargo in the UK and ted Learning is delighted to be working with them on several exciting and innovative training programmes around customer service and management development.
Our services have been engaged as the business wants to utilise our theatre based approach to learning both in the classroom but also as part of their more blended learning approach. ted Learning has already produced two training videos for the business. The first to support a management briefing to communicate the new corporate looks for Harveys and changes to how both businesses are operating. The business wanted something that made managers reflect on the key messages. We discussed with their L&D team what their concerns were and they explained some managers would leave the meeting saying “I do that already” “that wasn’t directed at me”.
So we produced a video with exactly that character – a manager who left the briefing session with that attitude and then delivering the key messages in a negative way back in store to their team. This enabled the senior management to say “this is NOT how we want it delivered” and focus on how the positive message should be delivered.
We have also produced a video to support their SMILE programme for new starters – this gives them a clear step by step guide on what a new staff member in the business is expected to do when working with customers at each stage.
The next phase of our journey is to fully support the launch of the Steinhoff University – all new and existing managers and all new staff members will go through a structured programme off-site from their store which ted Learning will support with video content and a live actor on the management course every month.
Working with ted Learning , especially Justin and Clare has been a fantastic journey. They listen, research and go above and beyond to ensure that their approach matches wholeheartedly with that of the business need. We are still at the toddler stage of our relationship (just out of nappies) and I’m excited by the work that we have already done together and the work that will take us into sulky adolescenthood and beyond. They do all of this with a great sense of humour. Highly recommend.
