Why this course?

Introduction to Presenting is a practical and engaging course designed to help your people communicate with confidence, clarity and authenticity—no matter the setting.

Many people find presenting to others nerve-wracking and intimidating – and unfortunately this then becomes obvious when they do present, which undermines the key messages they’re trying to get across, and leaves their audience doubting their credibility.

In our Introduction to Presenting course, we acknowledge these worries and explore the root of these concerns, before equipping learners with practical tools and techniques to calm their nerves and present more confidently. Learners receive individual feedback about their strengths and areas for improvement, enabling them to present professionally in a variety of contexts and environments and to different audiences.

What does it cover?

Introduction to Presenting: a drama-based learning course where our expert communication skills delivery team support employees to be more confident presenters.

In this Introduction to Presenting course, we explore the key elements of a successful presentation using practical activities and observational drama,   focus on verbal and non-verbal techniques to support the communication of key messages to the audience, look at how to design engaging content and how to use visual aids effectively.

All learners have the opportunity to put their skills into practice in a supportive environment, receiving individual feedback from our delivery team on their strengths and areas for further development. Learners leave this course feeling more confident about how to manage their nerves and present more effectively.

How do we do it?

In our Introduction to Presenting course, we use observational drama-based learning to demonstrate common mistakes made when presenting that can negatively impact the messaging of the presentation. We explore why some of these issues happen, and then work though a variety of verbal and non-verbal communication techniques to increase learner’s self-awareness, help them combat nerves and feel more confident when they present. We also spend time looking at the structure of a good presentation, and use visual aids effectively.

Learners deliver a short presentation and receive supportive individual feedback from our expert team, helping them to build on their strengths and focus on how they can continue to improve on their areas for development.

Why is this course important?

Presenting is a key professional skill, but it’s one that many people find difficult and anxiety-inducing. Often, employees are called upon to present to peers, senior management or clients with no previous experience and little training, and the resulting presentations lack structure, focus and credibility.

By equipping your people with a solid foundation in good presentation skills, you’ll empower them not only in their confidence and  development, but you’ll also be supporting them to represent your organisation with confidence, professionalism and clarity.

COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS
ABOUT Introduction to Presenting

Presenting Skills refer to the ability to communicate ideas effectively, engage an audience, and deliver key messages with confidence and clarity. Strong presentation skills are essential in the workplace, whether delivering a pitch, leading a meeting, or simply explaining concepts to colleagues. They help build credibility, ensure ideas are understood, and boost confidence in professional settings.

Our Introduction to Presenting course helps employees by equipping them with the skills and techniques they can use to come across well when presenting. Having the opportunity to practice their presenting in a supportive environment, and receive feedback on how to improve further helps learners to feel more confident about delivering presentations in a variety of situations.

Unlike standard presentation training, this course offers a practical, hands-on approach using professional actors to provide support and valuable feedback.

Instead of just learning techniques in theory, participants get to apply and refine their skills in a supportive setting, receiving personalised feedback that helps them grow in confidence and ability.

Is the Introduction to Presenting course for all employees or just managers?

No, the Introduction to Presenting course is highly practical and designed to go far beyond theory. While we do cover essential presentation principles and communication models, the core of the course is interactive and hands-on. Participants actively engage in exercises, rehearse real workplace scenarios, and receive personalised feedback from expert trainers and professional actors.

This Introduction to Presenting course focuses on real-world challenges such as managing nerves, structuring content, using body language effectively, and building confidence when speaking. Learners get the chance to practise their skills in a safe, supportive environment—making the experience relevant, impactful, and immediately applicable to their role.

Whether delivered to all employees, a specific team, or managers only, the course can be fully tailored to meet the needs of your organisation and your people.

Yes, the Introduction to Presenting course includes a practical presentation component to help learners put theory into action. Each participant is given time during the session to prepare and deliver a short five-minute presentation in a supportive and constructive environment.

This live presenting exercise is a key feature of the Introduction to Presenting course. It enables learners to apply the skills they’ve developed—such as structuring content, managing nerves, using visual aids, and connecting with their audience. They then receive personalised feedback from both their peers and the ted Learning facilitation team, helping them reflect, grow, and refine their delivery.

It’s not about being perfect—it’s about building confidence, gaining insight, and developing a natural, authentic presentation style that works in real workplace settings.
