Equity Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace

Practical, evidence-informed insight into equity, diversity and inclusion at work.

Equity, diversity and inclusion are now central to how organisations think about leadership, culture, and responsibility. Yet meaningful progress in this area depends on more than policy statements or one-off training sessions. It requires sustained attention to behaviour, power, decision-making, and the everyday experiences of people at work.

This equity, diversity and inclusion collection brings together applied insight from ted Learnings’s work with organisations across the UK. The articles explore how EDI plays out in real workplace contexts, including recruitment and progression, inclusive leadership, micro-behaviours, bias, psychological safety, and responding to discrimination and exclusion. Rather than treating EDI as a compliance exercise or a set of abstract values, the focus is on how inclusion is enacted, challenged, and maintained in daily working life.

The content draws on contemporary research in social psychology, organisational behaviour, and equality law, alongside the lived experience of ted Learnings facilitators who deliver EDI learning through drama-based, scenario-led methods. This dual perspective allows for nuanced discussion of sensitive and contested issues, acknowledging both structural inequality and the interpersonal dynamics through which it is reproduced or disrupted.

Whether you are an L&D professional designing inclusion strategies, a leader accountable for fair and inclusive practice, or an organisation seeking to build cultures where people can contribute and belong, this category offers grounded, credible guidance. The emphasis throughout is on equity, diversity and inclusion as practical, ongoing work that supports fairness, wellbeing, and sustainable organisational performance.

pride ted Learning Drama Based Training
On Sunday 1st June, I noticed a familiar pattern playing out across social media. Several well-known organisations posted their support for Pride Month—changing logos, sharing stories, and standing in solidarity with the LGBTQI+ community. It’s something I always welcome seeing. But as usual, the comment sections quickly became a battleground of opinions. Among the celebration and support were those who were visibly angry. Some comments were openly hostile, others dripping with sarcasm or outrage. And one question kept cropping up, as it does every year: "Why isn’t there a Straight Pride?"
