WHAT CHALLENGE DID Leyland SDM FACE?
Leyland SDM is a DIY chain, operating mostly in and around London. ted Learning were first contacted by them as they were looking for a new solution around interviews and wanted to support their store managers in being more consistent with the interviews, probing answers and ensure there was less churn by spending more time in the interviews. They therefore wanted something practical with a chance to practice and could give an entire day for the training.

ted Learning partnered with Leyland SDM to enhance their recruitment and interview process, ensuring a more structured and effective approach. We collaborated closely with store managers, area managers, the recruitment team, and HR/L&D to assess current challenges and identify opportunities for improvement.
By implementing our WASP model, we developed tailored applications, CVs, and structured interview questions for various roles, aligning the process with Leyland SDM’s hiring needs.
To reinforce learning, we delivered interactive workshops, where participants practiced realistic interview scenarios with professional actors playing candidates. This hands-on approach was particularly well received, helping managers build confidence in interviewing, hiring, and onboarding.

Following this success, Leyland SDM has extended our partnership to deliver management training, further supporting leadership development across the organisation.
