WHAT CHALLENGE DID Social Work England FACE?
Social Work England identified a training need to support employees across multiple departments be better placed to have challenging communication conversations. Different departments had different needs and challenges and so the course needed to have different facets to it so that all teams felt the benefit.
HOW DID WE HELP?
Tailored Training for Tough Conversations: How ted Learning Supported Social Work England
ted Learning collaborated closely with department heads to gain a deep understanding of their unique challenges and communication needs. These ranged from informing students they hadn’t passed their social work qualification, to telling practising social workers they no longer met professional standards, and engaging in sensitive discussions with families.
To ensure maximum relevance, we designed a structured training programme with customised drama-based scenarios, adapting each session to reflect the specific challenges of different departments. While the core themes remained consistent, the bespoke drama elements provided a realistic, engaging, and practical learning experience tailored to each team’s unique responsibilities.
WHAT DID THE CLIeNT SAY?
The trainer was very knowledgeable and good at generating discussion in the group. The actors portrayed very realistic situations and were both receptive to observations and effective in asking the group how to proceed with a dialogue.
