The University of Exeter had a very unique requirement – ensuring that the right to protest for students was protected, but managed effectively so it didn’t disrupt the learning experience or lead to conflict arising between academic staff and students. They wanted a highly practical approach that enabled all parties to see both perspectives.
ted Learning designed a fully bespoke training programme for the University of Exeter, ensuring a dynamic, engaging, and highly realistic learning experience.
To create an authentic and impactful session, we collaborated with academics, support staff, and students, ensuring the training reflected diverse perspectives. As part of the programme, we worked closely with drama students from the university, casting them in the role of protestors—but with a twist.
In a completely unexpected moment, a staged protest erupted mid-training, catching learners off guard and immersing them in a high-pressure, real-world scenario. This dramatic approach challenged participants to think on their feet, manage conflict effectively, and navigate complex discussions with confidence.
By integrating live-action learning, roleplay, and expert facilitation, this training left a lasting impact on participants, equipping them with practical skills to handle challenging real-world situations.
