Interview

Anthony Lewis began acting at 9 years old, with roles in television series including Heartbeat, A Touch of Frost and Cracker, as well as in the film Girls’ Night. Regular roles in Children’s Ward (as Scott Morris for three series) and Adam’s Family Tree (as Adam for two series) followed, as well as the lead in the show My Dad’s a Boring Nerd. He went on to appear in the ITV soap opera Emmerdale, where he portrayed the role of Marc Reynolds for three years, making a three episode guest return five years after his initial departure.

How long have you been working as an actor?

Since I was 9 years old…. So 32 years. Ouch.

And what do you love most about it?

I love telling stories and also sometimes it’s quite nice to lose yourself in the costumes, accents, personality traits, and really immerse yourself in a different character. I also love meeting different creative people and collaborating on projects.

What acting work are you most proud of?

I did Emmerdale for almost 4 years which was a fantastic learning ground for TV and have great memories from my time there. Torchwood was a series I was proud of, and also a film I did with Andrew Garfield called Boy A. Playing Timothy Spall’s son in The Syndicate was a real pleasure and got to do some great scenes with one of my heroes. And finally, taking The Full Monty on tour for 9 months really pushed me out of my comfort zones for obvious reasons haha.

What does he like?
