Nigel Betts is a seasoned English actor with an extensive career spanning television, film, and theatre. Best known for his role as Eddie Hope in Emmerdale (2003–2007), Nige has become a familiar face on British screens with standout performances in some of the UK’s most iconic series.

Nigel Betts has featured in many much-loved British shows, including Downton Abbey, EastEnders, Doctors, Holby City, Coronation Street, The Bill and Ridley Road, as well as ITV’s acclaimed adventure series Sharpe. He has comic chops too, appearing as a singing barman in As Time Goes By and as Steve Taylor’s laid-back neighbour in Coupling. He later played Brian Teddern in The Coroner (series 2, episode 5, “The Captain’s Pipe”) and Tommy in Doc Martin (series 4, episode 8).

He has  numerous theatre credits including playing an assortment of roles for the Royal Shakespeare Company, including playing a variety of successful characters in the RSC’s Gunpowder season. Other theatre credits include The 39 Steps, a British play adapted from the 1915 novel by John Buchan and the 1935 film by Alfred Hitchcock, and Arthur in War Horse, the National Theatre‘s award-winning show in the West End.
