Drama-based learning uses actors to bring learning to life – we appeal to the senses of see, hear and feel by creating long lasting experiences. The more senses engaged, the more the learning will be utilised back in the workplace, leading to a better return on your investment.
Our drama-based learning can be observational and participative, using teams of our actors to bring it to life. We work closely with each client to identify the best option for you and your people.
The mere mention of the word role-play is enough to clear a room (!), so we don’t use this technique at all at ted Learning; in fact, it’s covered by our ‘no-roleplay’ guarantee.
We also recognise that taking part is not for everyone, so we offer observational training – this is where our acting team demonstrate scenes related to the course and delegates observe and comment on the behaviours.
Where a business or learners feel more confident working with actors, we take this to the next level with participative training, so delegates get to practice their newly learnt skills, where relevant.
At ted Learning, we use a variety of drama-based and tried and tested theatre methods to create emotionally engaging, thought-provoking training that drives real change.
Whether live or digital, our techniques are designed to reflect real workplace challenges and open up safe, powerful conversations.
At ted Learning, we don’t do role-play. We use our professional actors to create an experience in the room whether that is face to face or virtually. This appeals to the sense of feeling more, as learners observe and see the impact behaviours can have on other people.
Our professional actors perform scripted or semi-scripted scenes live—either in the room or virtually.
Learners observe real-time scenarios, reacting emotionally and intellectually. The immediacy of live performance sparks strong engagement, fuels discussion, and creates space to safely challenge assumptions.
At ted Learning, with our highly talented production and script writing team, we turn every day work experiences into high quality drama scenes. Using our highly professional actors from a variety of backgrounds, we create video-based content that can be used in a variety of ways.
Pre-recorded scenes featuring professional actors portraying workplace situations. These can be paused, replayed, and used in both live and digital training.
Film provides consistency and flexibility—ideal for scaling training across large teams. Learners can focus on body language, tone, and context to dissect what’s really going on.
Imagine having the chance to ask how someone feels immediately after a work-place situation? Well that’s what we create at ted Learning with our hot-seating approach. We show an interaction taking place, but then let the learners question how the actor (in character) is feeling about the interaction.
Actors remain in character after a scene, allowing participants to question them directly about their feelings, reactions, and motivations. We call this hot-seating the character.
This method builds empathy and helps learners dig deeper into the emotional impact of behaviour. It humanises the issue and makes abstract concepts real.
Forum Theatre is a tried and tested approach – and at ted Learning we show how not to do something, our trainer gives the skills input, the models, the theory and then we have a chance for the learners to be the Directors for the day – and re-run the scene with them directing characters to improve the situation.
Participants direct the actors to “replay” a scene—changing the actions, words, or tone to see how outcomes shift.
It encourages problem-solving and skills practice without putting learners directly on the spot. It’s a safe way to experiment with different approaches and explore consequences.
Often digital or e-learning has a bad name – death by PowerPoint but instead of someone there clicking through the slides, you instead have to watch it on screen on your own! Well at ted Learning, our interactive digital drama is content that learners can engage with and see how different options play out – whether its on a computer, tablet or mobile, we have content that works.
It’s on-demand, scalable, and keeps learners active—perfect for remote or hybrid teams. Interactive branching keeps them thinking, not just watching.

Because drama is real. It’s human. And when people see themselves reflected in the stories we tell, they’re more likely to learn—and change.
At ted Learning, we don’t just deliver training. We deliver experiences that stick.
