LET'S TALK ABOUT Working in a Hybrid Team

This half-day, theatre-based learning course, delivered via our Virtual Classroom, is for all employees who work, or are preparing to work, in a Hybrid team. A Hybrid team is one whose team members are geographically spread, or work in different shift patterns, or in a variety of locations.

This course helps team members explore the opportunities and challenges of this new way of working. We can deliver this course twice per day to provide maximum cost benefits.

What is it?

A fun, interactive, 2.5 hour course delivered via our Virtual Classroom, using our professional actors and our expert trainer.

We’ll work through the challenges and opportunities of hybrid working and you’ll get the chance to learn more about your own personal preferences and how these might differ from your colleagues.

What will I do on the day?

We’ll explore what hybrid working is, and how different people feel about it and why. Working with our actors you’ll get to talk to different characters about their experiences of hybrid working and use this to reflect on your own thoughts. We’ll spend time understanding the Change Curve and why this means we tend to react differently to the same shared experience. We’ll begin to look at the four pillars of hybrid working and understand how our biases and mindset can impact our own experiences, both positive and negative.

This Working in a Hybrid Team course is delivered using observational theatre-based learning. Our actors perform scenarios based on real situations in real businesses. We’ll use these scenes and hot seating to facilitate discussion to understand impact, opinions and feelings. This learning technique supports active reflection and encourages learners to relate scenarios to their own experiences.

Learning Outcomes.

By the end of this course, learners will be able to:

  • Develop greater awareness of their own starting point on the journey to hybrid working
  • Identify how to adapt to the different mind-sets and behaviours of their colleagues
  • Identify how bias traps show up when working in a hybrid team
  • Recognise how the dynamics of your hybrid team impact their overall effectiveness.
  • Improve collaborative working and build relationships within your hybrid team.
  • Develop greater awareness of where their manager might be on this journey and consider how they approach conversations about hybrid working.

0.1What are the benefits of our Working in Hybrid Teams training?
Hybrid working, now a commercial choice for many businesses in a large variety of industries, is here to stay thanks to the changes brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic. Organisations may tend to focus on the logistics of moving to a hybrid working model, rather than thinking about the reactions and experiences of their people. This course gives employees a space to share their questions and concerns about hybrid working and begin to understand the opportunities it brings for both the organisation and them as individuals.
0.2What do you mean by a Hybrid Team?
Managing remote workers is a challenge enough in itself - a hybrid team is one made up of split teams based in different locations than planned because of the Covid19 measures in place. A team that was once all based in the office, may now be split between furlough, working from home, some in the office, some social distancing measures in place etc. This is a new challenge for managers and our course is designed to support them lead a team structured in a very different way for the new normal.

Discussing and learning in the traditional ‘class-room’ is effective, but long-term memory is better stimulated by having an experience. Our approach using experiential and drama based methods delivers this and leads to more sustained learning.

    Our training is observational and participative, using teams of actors to bring it to life. We recognise that taking part in role-play is not for everyone, so we offer observational training – this is where two of our acting team demonstrate scenes related to the course and delegates observe and comment on the behaviors. Where a business is more confident working with actors, we take this to the next level with participative training so delegates get to practice their newly learnt skills.
