In the Inspirational Leadership course, we use powerful drama-based learning techniques to bring leadership behaviours to life. Two of the most engaging and insightful methods we use are observational drama and hot-seating.
Observational drama involves professional actors performing a realistic workplace scenario while learners watch and reflect. These scenes serve as a springboard for group discussion: What was happening in the interaction? Why did it play out that way? What impact did the leader’s words, tone, or behaviour have? How might each person involved be feeling?
Hot-seating takes this further by giving learners the opportunity to question the characters while they remain in role. Participants can ask about the character’s thoughts, feelings, motivations, and reactions. This immersive experience helps learners understand how leadership behaviours affect others and deepens their empathy, insight, and emotional intelligence.
