Build a Stronger, More Inclusive Workplace with Restorative Practice Training

Restorative Practice ...

Why this course?

Restorative Practice plays a crucial role in shaping and sustaining a positive workplace culture—especially in organisations navigating change, restructuring, or rapid growth. Over recent years, your business has made commendable progress in building an inclusive and supportive environment, contributing to improved collaboration, innovation, and overall success.

However, as the organisation has expanded, inevitable challenges have emerged. Team restructures, shifting dynamics, and increased pressure have led to personality clashes, unresolved disagreements, and, in some cases, complaints around bullying or harassment. These incidents—though perhaps isolated—can have a lasting impact on trust, morale, retention, and productivity.

While you may feel that the most turbulent period has passed, there is still vital work to be done. To truly move forward, managers and team leaders need practical tools to facilitate open, honest, and constructive conversations. Restorative Practice supports this process by offering a structured approach to rebuilding damaged relationships, fostering empathy, and encouraging mutual understanding.

Through carefully guided dialogue and emotionally intelligent leadership, Restorative Practice helps teams reconnect, rebuild trust, and re-establish a shared commitment to a respectful, inclusive workplace culture.

Restorative Practice in Action: Skills, Scenarios, and Real Impact

This engaging and practical Restorative Practice course introduces managers and team leaders to a structured, values-led approach for managing conflict and rebuilding relationships in the workplace. It defines the restorative approach and explores how applying its principles can support a positive team culture, particularly following disputes, grievances, or breakdowns in communication.

Using observational drama, learners observe a scenario that highlights the impact of a poorly-handled conflict between colleagues. This acts as a powerful springboard for group discussion—contrasting what happened with what might have been possible using Restorative Practice.

Participants are introduced to the five key pillars of Restorative Practice—the 5Rs: Relationships, Respect, Responsibility, Repair, and Re-integration. These pillars underpin a more human-centred, empathetic approach to conflict resolution—shifting focus away from blame and punishment, and instead fostering understanding, accountability, and meaningful change.

Throughout the course, learners work with our professional actors in forum theatre sessions to direct and reshape conversations using restorative techniques. They practise applying core skills—such as active listening, reframing, and managing emotional responses—in a safe, supportive environment that mirrors real workplace challenges.

The course also explores how Restorative Practice can be embedded into everyday team management, aligning with organisational values to support inclusion, wellbeing, and trust at every level. This empowers managers to consciously shape a restorative workplace culture—one where open communication and reconciliation are prioritised over compliance and control.

By the end of this Restorative Practice course, learners will be able to:

  • Explain the concept of Restorative Practice and the 5Rs: Relationships, Respect, Responsibility, Repair, and Re-integration
  • Identify how effective communication techniques support a restorative approach to managing team relationships
  • Recognise how Restorative Practice contributes to better team dynamics, improved morale, and a more inclusive workplace culture

COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS
ABOUT Restorative Practice

Restorative Practice in the workplace is a proactive, relationship-focused approach to addressing conflict, repairing harm, and rebuilding trust. Rather than centring on blame, punishment, or disciplinary procedures, Restorative Practice encourages open dialogue, accountability, and mutual understanding.

This approach empowers individuals to reflect on the impact of their actions, take responsibility, and work collaboratively to repair damaged relationships. It’s particularly effective in organisations that value inclusion, psychological safety, and respectful communication. By creating space for honest conversations, Restorative Practice helps teams navigate challenges, strengthen bonds, and foster a healthier, more resilient workplace culture.

This Restorative Practice course is ideal for managers, team leaders, HR professionals, and anyone responsible for team wellbeing or handling workplace conflict. It equips participants with practical tools to create a more inclusive, supportive working environment.

Restorative Practice helps resolve workplace conflict by facilitating structured, respectful conversations that prioritise emotional safety, empathy, and shared accountability. Rather than defaulting to formal grievance processes or disciplinary action, it provides a supportive framework for individuals to express their perspectives, listen actively, and work together to repair relationships.

By focusing on the emotional and relational impact of a conflict—not just the facts—Restorative Practice encourages participants to take responsibility for their actions, acknowledge harm, and agree on positive steps forward. This approach not only resolves immediate tensions but also strengthens trust, promotes team cohesion, and reduces the likelihood of future conflict.

No, the Restorative Practice course is highly practical. While we do introduce the core concepts and principles behind Restorative Practice, the main focus is on how to apply them in real workplace situations. This includes understanding the 5Rs—Relationships, Respect, Responsibility, Repair, and Re-integration—and learning how to use them effectively in day-to-day management and team conversations.

Through immersive drama-based learning and interactive forum theatre, learners get hands-on experience in navigating difficult conversations, resolving conflict, and rebuilding trust using restorative techniques. It’s a safe space to explore, practise, and build confidence in applying Restorative Practice in the workplace.

In the Restorative Practice course, forum theatre is an interactive, drama-based training technique that brings real workplace challenges to life. Our professional actors perform a scene that reflects a typical conflict or difficult conversation in the workplace. Learners then step into the role of ‘director’, guiding how the manager or key characters conduct the interaction.

Participants can pause, rewind, and reshape the action—exploring alternative approaches, testing out restorative responses, and discussing outcomes in real time. This dynamic format allows learners to practise Restorative Practice skills in a safe, supportive environment, building confidence in how they respond to conflict, rebuild trust, and support positive communication in their teams.

Yes, absolutely. As part of our Restorative Practice course, we take the time to understand your organisation’s unique context and challenges. During our initial DNA conversation, we’ll work with you to identify real-world scenarios that are most relevant to your learners—whether that’s team tension, management conflict, or communication breakdowns following organisational change.

We then craft bespoke scripts that bring these situations to life through live, immersive drama. This ensures that the training feels authentic and impactful, allowing participants to explore Restorative Practice techniques in scenarios that reflect their everyday working environment.
